Analysis of Draft Cover
Front Cover
This is the front cover for my draft magazine. The target audience for this magazine are secondary school student's ranging from year 7 (11-12 year old's) to year 13 (17-18 year old's) I choose secondary school students as this magazine informs student about school life and events going around the school. The colour scheme for this magazine is Black and Yellow as to follow the schools (King Henry VIII) colours Black and Yellow.
Title
The title of this magazine is "Break". I choose the word break as it is a moment in the school day where students have a break from their lessons to relax and refresh their minds. The style either side of the word Break is supposed to show ribbons or materiel being cut, representing a "break" in the fabric.
Pug
This Pug is very basic and may be changed for the final draft, but this is used to entice the reader into picking up a copy of the magazine as a lot of students find the topic of drama very entertaining to read and learn about others life around school.
Graphics
The Graphics (the four right angles) are very basic and in this case is used to advertise the idea of School Photos which is a current topic around school.
Splash
The Splash represents this issue's main theme. This issue focuses on a "New Student" I choose this as like before with the Pug a lot of students like the idea of being the first to know about the latest gossip and news. Please also note the spelling mistake will not appear on the final draft.
Footer
The Footer is another thing due to change as I feel "The Best Magazine" is not that accurate and I also feel I can come up with something more informative.
Sell Lines/Pull Quote
The Sell Lines and Pull Quote like the Pug, Graphics and Splash are used to entice the reader to pick up a copy of the magazine.
The first Sell line reads "Fire Alarm" I had choose this as this is something that has affected all students and I feel some students may find it interesting to find out the cause of the alarms.
The second Sell line reads "Timetable Changes" is is another thing that affects most students and again like the previous sell line I feel the students would like to read why this is.
Finally we have the Pull Quote, it reads "Food is Horrible!" I decided to write this as I feel students would be interested in different opinions on the canteen food.
Pug 2
For the Second Pug I decided to change the shape to square. the Pug reads "Food Coupons Inside" this is another way I choose to entice the reader to pick up a copy. I would also like to note the hypocrisy between the Sell Line and the Pug this is to promote both sides of an argument that could be featured on a page of the final draft.
Main Image
The main image follow the topic of a "New Student". the image is of a blank face with a question mark in the middle blocking features allowing me to decide if I either want a Male or Female student at a later time. to recreate this for my final draft I would use Photoshop to edit a question mark onto the students face and blur out all the students features, this is also to entice the reader to pick up an issue to find out who the "New Student" is.
I drew the student wearing a suit/school uniform, I feel that I will change this for the final draft as I will most likely use a sixth-form student as the model.
Good evidence of drafting, Myles.
